Wow

I can’t believe Michael Jackson is dead.  It’s just so weird and this totally came out of nowhere.  On the way home tonight “She’s Out Of My Life” came on V103 and I got a little teary.  My greatest memory of MJ was watching the Thriller video over and over and over again thinking it was the coolest thing on the planet.  Whatever was dark about his personal life is overshadowed by his incredible music career.  What are your fondest memories of Michael Jackson?  RIP King Of Pop…….

  1. “Thriller” was my very first cassette tape. I got it in my Easter basket and I remember playing “Human Nature” over and over and over. To a little girl growing up in Colbert,GA, he was simply amazing!

Hi Mara. I am with you on this. So so so shocked and really saddened, more so than I thought I would be. I agree with you that his private, inner life was dark; the man had his demons, and was a hot mess towards the end of his life, but I can’t believe the music he’s left behind!
My favorite memory of MJ’s music is one of my first memories. When I was a small child my sister would baby-sit me while my parents were out (she is 12 years older than me). I remember her dancing with me in the living room to the Off the Wall album, specifically, I remember swinging around to I Wanna Rock With You. Good stuff. I hope that where ever MJ is, he is at peace.

For too many, the memories of Michael Jackson will be the bizarre: obsessive tendencies with boys and cosmetic surgery. Still, the loss of such an epic entertainer is staggering. Look back to a whole Jackson 5, or to “Off the Wall” and “Thriller.” Honestly, whether a fan or not, there is an appreciation for his showmanship and his passion to become the greatest artist of all time as the “King of Pop.”

Hey Mara…Human Nature is such an awesome song. Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough, The Way You Make Me feel…there’s so many.

My favorite memory was actually after a Phish concert when everyone was filing out in cars and on foot and we were blasting MJ out of the windows of our car. And EVERYONE stopped and danced. I am talking we put the car in park and were dancing on the roof. His music gets to all types of people for sure and makes you want to dance. Genius!
